Red Bull RB4 Part 2

The front wing is complete.
PE parts will be added following a clear coat.

I used CA glue to fill some of the gaps.
After some primer I may need to use some putty.

Awesome progress on the car!
Right now I'm working on the RB4 aswell.
I saw your nice finish on the front wing, so my question is: Should I assemble the front wing before painting it?
I wonder how you did your magic trick on decalling carbon fiber on the inside frontwing endplates.

Thanks yes I would say to get all the front wing together before painting it. The Blue Metallic paint, no matter what kind of paint you use, will change colors, the metallic will shift and look bad if you try and glue after the paint is on.

I made templates for the CF by just tracing the part on paper. The inside wing decal was cut in several places and worked around all the other parts that were glued together.

I'm getting back into town after the holidays today and will be doing more progress soon. Do you have pictures of your build? I'm always looking to learn from others builds and hope to see yours.

Hmmm...............
I'll definitely try that out.
I think the bridge wing will be the hardest part.
The STR livery is much easier with less CF. :)

I'm active on a dutch modelling forum. You can see my progress over there: http://forum.modelbrouwers.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19731&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Btw, it's my first multimedia kit.
So I'm glad I can discuss this with someone building the same kit.

Another little question:
Are you going to do the same thing with the rear wing? (pre assemble before painting)
I saw that you cut of the tail light/back end gearbox, so I quess it's a lot easier now.

I'm really anxious to see some updates from you soon. :-)

Make sure you dont base your likes/dislikes of multimedia kits off this kit. You chose a challenging kit to be your first!

As far as the rear wing. I think I'm going to paint everything black, CF parts, clear and glue before I shoot the blue/silver on. I'm going to test this on a scrap body part before I try on the wing but it should work to just tape off parts.

I'm still not happy with the rear section because the gearbox looks so bad so i'm going to try and change the mounting points on the rear wing support and see what that looks like.

Anonymous/David. I agree with you that the STR would be less CF. Less masking too! Thanks for the link i'll be keeping track of your build.
