Ferrari 641/2 France Part 7

Here is the kit 98% complete.

Missing the windscreen and mirror faces.

Also, you can see that one of my big helpers lost the right front wings endplate.  I'll end up making a new one out of brass if we dont find it.  Not a big deal.

Decals were covered in DuPont 2 part clear and polished out.

Ferrari 641/2 France Part 7

Small update.
I tried to finish it Sunday but wanted everything to dry before I worked with it and messed up all my work.

Here is the completed seat with MFH hardware.

Ferrari 641/2 France Part 6

This will be done tomorrow.
I'm not going to use the kit decals so I will call it complete until I get the decals.

The seat was made by painting it with thick primer and while it was still wet I dusted it with embossing powder.
After everything was dry I airbrushed Tamiya Desert Yellow.

Ferrari 641/2 France Part 5

I used extra photo etched parts to make the buckles used to hold the electronic components.

The straps are made from some material I found on Ebay that is used for seat belts. Very nice material that is a mix between paper and cloth.

Ferrari 641/2 France Part 3

Here is a small update on the Ferrari.
Bare Metal Foil was used on the sides of the monocoque after a coat of flat black over black auto primer.

Ferrari 641/2 France Part 2

More work has been done on the engine.
As you build it, you find more detail that is molded into the kit.

I need to paint the body to include the body parts that need to be added before the final suspension.

Tomorrow I'll start the prep work to get all body parts painted with Zero Ferrari Red.

I didnt notice a few areas on the Bare Metal Foil that need more work.
Gotta love macro shots that make your mistakes stick out!

Ferrari 641/2 France Part 1

Manufacturer: Fujimi Kit #090375
Information: Plastic - full detail
Paint: Tamiya acrylics / Krylon semi flat black / Ferrari Zero Paints / Vallejo Model Air acrylics
Aftermarket Parts: Scale Motorsports carbon fiber decals / Modelers carbon Kevlar decals / Various photo etched parts / Bare Metal Foil

This kit will be built with a few additions but for the most part Fujimi have raised the bar for 1/20 scale plastic formula one kits!

I have started with the engine and will be completing it before moving on to the rest of the car.

I decided to turn my own shocks rather than just add a spring to the kits.

Started the CF process on a few parts.

This is Modelers Carbon Kevlar decal sealed with Testors metalizer spray.
After several coats, sections were taped off and painted with Tamiya black.
